1 lb butter or oleo
2 cups plus 2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp Karo syrup
1 cup blanched almonds
1/2 lb chocolate (6 Hershey bars)
1/3 cup ground almonds
Directions:
Directions:
Put butter, sugar, and syrup in heavy pan and cook over high heat, stirring constantly. Cook until thick and dark golden brown. Remove from heat, stir in 1 cup almonds and quickly spread in greased 9 x 13 pan. Cool slightly. Place chocolate bars on top of candy; spread as they melt. Sprinkle with ground almonds. Break or cut when cool.
