1/2 cup of shortening
1 1/2 cups of sugar
1 tsp of vanilla
2 large eggs
2 1/4 cups of sifted flour
2 1/2 tsps of baking powder
1 tsp of salt
1 cup plus 1 tsp of milk

Directions:
Directions:
Stir shortening to soften. Gradually add sugar and cream thoroughly (12 minutes in a mixer at medium speed) Add vanilla. Add eggs one at a time. Make sure to beat well after each and every egg. Sift dry ingredients and add to cream mixture alternately adding the milk. Bake in a tube pan at 375º for about 40 minutes or until done.

My brother in law Billy loves this cake. My Mom makes it for him often. It is great with heavy cream and a cup of hot tea. It is the perfect way to end the day. You can have your cake and eat it too, with this recipe.
