Directions:Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. In a sauce pan take two sticks of butter and melt them at medium heat. You may add the chocolate when the butter is completely melted. Add your dry ingredients and the chocolate mixture together, and mix with an electric mixer for ten minutes. Heat the oven to 450º . Place the mixture in a greased brownie pan (10x6). Place the pan on the middle rack of your oven. Set the timer for 8 minutes. At this point the brownies should have risen in the pan. Lower the heat to 375º. Bake the brownies for another 8-12 minutes, (Times may vary depending on the oven). Be sure to use a toothpick and check the brownies every three to four minutes. When the brownies are completely cooked take them out of the oven and let them cool on a cooling rack for approximately 1 hour. At this time take the brownies and flip them upside down onto a plate. Now you have Upside Down Brownies. |

Notes: I entered this recipe in a church cookbook many years ago. Today, my husband and son enjoy homemade brownies with a spoonful of whipped heavy cream or homemade ice cream. The perfect summer evening dessert.
