1/2 c. Crisco shortening,
1/2 tsp. salt,
1 c. sugar,
2 unbeaten eggs,
1 c. mashed bananas (2 large),
1 tsp. vanilla,
2 c. sifted flour,
1/2 c. chopped pecans,
1 tsp. baking soda in 1 Tbsp. water

Preheat oven to 350º.
In a mixing bowl, cream Crisco, salt and sugar.
Add: eggs, bananas, vanilla, flour, and nuts. (Stir only until the dry ingredients are moistened when you add the liquid ingredients.)
Add last: the soda in water.
Bake 50 - 60 minutes at 350º in a greased 8x8 pan.
