1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced
1 c sugar
2 c all purpose flour
2 tbsp sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c butter
1 egg
1/2 c cream

Whipped cream

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine the strawberries and sugar, set aside. In a large bowl, sift together dry ingredients. Cut in butter until crumbly. In another bowl, beat egg, add cream. Add to crumb mixture, stirring only until moist. Pat into a greased 8 inch square or round baking pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan, cool on a wire rack. Just before serving, split cake in two. Butter bottom layer, spoon half the berries over the butter. Replace second layer and spoon the remaining strawberries on top. Cut into individual servings, top each with w6hipping cream.
