Soften 1/2 gallon ice cream. Crumble 48 Oreo cookies. Mix half the cookies crumbs with butter and press in bottom of 9" x 13" pan, whose sides are 2" deep or deeper. Freeze for at least 30 minutes. Then, remove pan from freezer and spread softened ice cream over cookie crust. Return pan to freezer for at least an hour. Meanwhile, soften second 1/2 gallon of ice cream. Personal Notes:
This does not require a lot of thawing time. Please note, if your pan does not have deep sides, use only a 1/4 of a gallon of ice cream for each layer.
