1/2 c. shortening
2 (1oz each) squares unsweetened chocolate
1 c.. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c. buttermilk
1-1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
6 oz. pkg semisweet chocolate chips
Mocha Frosting
walnut halves.

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening and unsweetened chocolate together in a saucepan. Cool 10 minutes. Stir in the brown sugar. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and buttermilk. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to the chocolate mixture. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Drop from teaspoon on a greased cookie sheet. Bake @ 375º about 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool. Frost with Mocha Frosting. Top with walnut half, if desired.
MOCHA FROSTING: Cream 1/4 C. butter, 2 Tbsp dry cocoa, 2 tsp. instant coffee powder, and dash salt. Beat in 2 1/2 C.confectioners' sugar, 1 1/2 tsp vanilla, and enough milk for spreading consistency.
