1/2 cup raisins
3/4 cup chopped dates
2 Tablespoons margarine
3/4 Teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup boiling water
3/4 cup plus 2 Tablespoon flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1/2 cup nuts (walnuts or peanuts)

Directions:
Directions:
In a small bowl mix raisins, dates, margarine and baking soda.
Then pour in boiling water. Let stand 5 minutes. Stir in flour,
sugar, vanilla, salt, egg and nuts. Pour into a greased and
floured loaf pan or 3 mini loaf pans or 1 lb. coffee can. Bake at
350º for 60 or 70 minutes. If using smaller loaf pans, bake 30 to
40 minutes.
