Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 tsp. yeast
1/4 c water
3 c unbleached white flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 T salt
1 t sugar
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 c butter
4 c sourdough starter
melted butter for dipping

Directions:
Directions:
Sprinkle yeast over very warm water in a small bowl, sprinkle 1 t sugar over mixture, set aside to proof.

In medium bowl, add flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Combine with whip. Cut butter into small pieces, spread over flour mixture and work into flour with your fingers as you would a pie crust. Butter should be in small pieces the size of half a green pea when finished.

Add yeast mixture and sourdough, mix with a fork only until combined. Add a little milk if too dry - better too wet than too dry.

Using a plastic scraper, carefully scoop dough onto floured workspace. Flip dough over several times to coat with flour, then pat out gently with your fingers into a 10 inch circle. Cut biscuits into whatever shape appeals to you, dip in melted butter, arrange in buttered pie plate with sides touching. Let rise until light.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees, put in center of oven, bake 25 minutes or until golden brown

Do not over mix or overwork this dough, it responds to a gentle, easy touch.
