Ingredients: 2/3 cup margarine 1 1/2 cups sugar 3 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 cup cocoa 2 1/4 cups flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1 cup beer (your favorite brand) 2/3 cup drained, rinsed and finely chopped, sauerkraut. Frosting: 2-- 4 oz. packages German sweet chocolate 2 3 oz. packages cream cheese, softened 2 TBSP light cream 2 cups sifted confectioners sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:Cake: Cream margarine and sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time and add vanilla. Sift flour with cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add dry ingredients to cream mixture with beer, alternately. Stir in chopped sauerkraut. Pour into two greased and floured 8" pie pans. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes or until done. Remove layers to rack to cool. Frost with the following: Frosting: Place chocolate in small bowl over hot water until melted (I now just use the microwave). Cool slightly. Blend in cream cheese and cream. Add sugar gradually mixing well after each addition. Add salt and vanilla. Spread between layers and over top and sides of cake.
