1 1/2 c flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c shortening
1 egg
1/3 c milk
1/2 c sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cut shortening into sugar. Add beaten egg and milk. Add dry ingredients just until moist. Bake at 400 for approximately 20-25 minutes.

This is from my 7th grade homemaking class and it's a great foolproof recipe for slightly sweet muffins. You can add chopped cranberries, orange zest, or blueberries for variety.
