1 3/4 c boiling water
1 c uncooked oatmeal (quick or old-fashioned)
1 c brown sugar
1 c white sugar
1 stick (1/2 c) margarine
2 eggs
1 3/4 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp cocoa
1 pkg (12-oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 c chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Pour boiling water over oatmeal. Let stand at room temperature for 10 minutes. Add sugars and margarine. Stir until margarine melts; add eggs and mix well. Add flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture and beat well. Add about half of the package of chips. Pour batter into greased and floured pan (9x13 in). Sprinkle walnuts and remaining chips on top. Bake for 40 minutes.
