2 1/2 c flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
3/4 c shortening
1 1/4 c buttermilk
1 1/4 c plus 2 tbsp brown sugar
3 unbeaten eggs
3/4 cups nuts or raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Stir shortening just to soften, stir in dry ingredients. Add brown sugar. Add milk and mix until flour is moist. Beat 2 minutes. Add eggs and beat 1 minutes longer. Add nuts or raisins. Turn into well greased and floured pan. Bake at 350º for 45 minutes.
