2 cups dates, cut up
1 tsp. soda in 1 cup boiling water
2 tbsp. butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour plus 2 tbsp.
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve soda in boiling water. Add dates and butter. Let stand until cool. Add 1 cup sugar and flour. Mix. Add egg, vanilla and nuts. Mix well. Bake in 350 oven for 30 minutes. As soon as removed from oven, pour over top the juice of 1 orange (or frozen orange juice) to which has been added 1/2 cup sugar. Serve with whipped cream. Bake at 325 if using a Pyrex dish.
