A. 1/4 pound butter
2 T vegetable lard
1 c. sugar

B. 2 c. flour
1 T. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

C. 2 large eggs

D. Guava paste (1 pound cut into 16 slices)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease an 8x8x2-inch glass or aluminum baking dish. In a bowl, cream butter, vegetable lard and sugar until light and fluffy. Sift together (twice) ingredients included in B, add, and mix. Add eggs, one at a time, and mix. Spoon half of batter into baking dish. Top with guava paste slices. Cover with remaining batter. Bake in preheated oven about 35 to 40 minutes or until golden. Cool thoroughly on a wire rack before dividing into 16 cakes.
