4 green plantains
butter (about1/2 cup- more or less for softer of firmer mangu)
evaporated milk
Edam cheese
adobo, salt and garlic paste to taste

4 Platanos verdes
mantequilla (mas o menos 1/2 taza - mas o menos para un mangu mas suave o mas firme)
leche evaporada
Queso Edam
ajo en pasta, adobo y sal a gusto

Peel plantains and boil in water with 1/2 teaspoon of salt, until tender.
In the same pan, and using the reduced boiled water mash the plantains with the butter, milk and cheese until blended. Use more butter and milk for softer mangu. Add the garlic, adobo and salt to taste.

Pelar platanos y poner a hervir en olla de agua con media cucharadita de sal, hasta quedar blandos.
En la misma olla y utilizando el agua reducida que se uso para hervir maje los platanos mientras aņade el queso hasta que derrita.
Eche la leche adobo y matequilla a gusto, hasta que este cremoso. Use mas leche y mantequilla para un mangu mas suave.

Can be served with fried eggs, fried cheese and sauteed onions on top for a traditional dominican breakfast. Another serving suggestion for lunch or dinner is with fried salami and onions sauteed in vinegar on top with a side of sliced avocado or pork chops with sliced avocado.

Puede ser acompaņado con huevos fritos, queso blanco de freir, con cebollitas blancas mareaditas por encima para un desayuno tipico dominicano. Para almuerzo o cena se puede servir con salami frito con cebollitas picadas y un poquito de vinagre, y aguacate o chuleta a la plancha con cebollita y aguacate.
