2 C chopped dates
2 tsp soda
2 C boiling water
2 eggs
1 Tbs. salt
2 c sugar
1 Tbs. vanilla
4 Tbs. butter or Crisco
3 C flour
1 C chopped nuts

Mix together 1st three ingredients. Let stand while preparing the
rest of the ingredients.
Beat eggs, add sugar & butter. Add salt & vanilla, flour alternately
with liquid mixture, beating after each addition.
Fold in nuts.
Fill 3 -5 cans 3/4 full.
Bake at 350F for 1 hour.
