1 C rice, cooked in chicken broth
1 C cooked chicken
1 C braised and buttered, sliced mushrooms
1 C white cream sauce
grated cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Fill casserole dish with rice. Mix chicken, mushrooms and cream sauce. Pour over rice. Sprinkle top with cheese. Place under broiler to brown. See sauces for white cream sauce recipe.

This recipe is from the Frances Tavern built in New York City in 1719 by Samuel Frances, steward to George Washington. It was at this tavern that the General gave his farewell address to his officers on December 4, 1783.
