2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon of baking soda
1½ teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
½ teaspoon of ground cloves
½ teaspoon of ground ginger
½ teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1½ cups of sugar
¼ cup of salted butter
¼ cup of vegetable oil
½ teaspoon of vanilla
2 eggs
1½ cups of buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg, and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl beat the butter and oil with electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add the sugar and vanilla and beat until well mixed.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating after adding each egg.
Add the dry flour mixture and buttermilk alternately into the egg and butter mixture, beating on low speed after each addition, just until combined.
Pour into geased and floured pan or pans.
Bake at 350º for 35 to 40 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool on wire rack
Frost with butter cream or cream cheese frosting
