6-7 tart apples (about 2 lbs.) pared and sliced
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 Tbsp. grated lemon peel
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup quick oats
1/3 cup butter, softened
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped walnuts/pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Place apples in an 8x8” baking dish. Sprinkle with lemon juice, toss apples around with hands.
Combine the the rest of the ingredients in a bowl. Mix to combine. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 375º for 40-50 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Serves 6.

I got this recipe from Jo Gallagher, Mary Gallagher (Glacken) Mom. Mrs. Gallagher taught me how to make this recipe in her kitchen during one of my many stays there. (I mean, Mary had six brothers). She then hand printed the recipe and gave it to me, this was in the 1970’s. I brought it home to Mom. Still a family favorite to this day.
