Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 cups brown sugar
3 cups (6 sticks) butter or margarine
6 cups oatmeal, uncooked
3 cups flour (white, whole wheat or half and half)
1 T baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
There is only one way to mix this and that is to use your hands and any other hands you can enlist. Knead until there aren't any lumps of butter. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten gently with a small fork. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool before removing from cookie sheet. This recipe makes between 10 and 15 dozen cookies, enough to serve two homeroom classes and still leave some for home snacks. These can be stored in the freezer also.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I made these cookies on several occasions for classroom parties. I have also cut the recipe in half successfully and the cookies bake up just fine. This recipe is in "The Taming of the C.A.N.D.Y.* Monster cookbook by Vicki Lansky
*(Continuously Advertised Nutritionally Deficient Yummies).
