8 apples (can use more depending on the size of the apples, you want them to mound in the pie plate),
1 c sugar,
pinch of salt,
1 tbps cinnamon,
1 tsp nutmeg,
3 tbps butter, (cut into pieces),
2 piece pie crust,

Directions:
Directions:
grease bottom of pie plate, layer with crust, mound apples, sprinkle sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, dot with butter, cover with second crust, put a little milk over top crust, put a couple of pricks in the crust to let some air escape. bake at 350º for 1- 1 1/4 hours. (depends on the size of the pie), place pie plate on cookie sheet in case the pie overflows while cooking

Ma always used a combination of macintosh and cortland apples. Don't use granny smith or delicious apples!!!!
