Ingredients:
Ingredients:
8 oz. uncooked tube or spiral pasta
1 lb. Ground beef
6 bacon strips, diced
1 can condensed tomato soup, undiluted
BBQ sauce
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a skillet, brown hamburger; drain and set aside.
In the same skillet, cook bacon until crisp; remove to paper towels to drain. Discard drippings.
Drain pasta; add to skillet. Add soup, bbq sauce, beef, and bacon; heat through. Sprinkle with cheese; cover and cook until cheese is melted. Salt to taste.

**I often doubled the pasta and the sauce and cheese to make sure we had enough for at least two nights. Sometimes I'd double the meat as well. This can be made without the bacon, too.

There’s no real measurement on the BBQ sauce ‘cause I just added that – eyeballed it. The recipe didn’t call for it – just said it could be used as “garnish” when served. It is much better with BBQ sauce. I usually use already cooked bacon (left over from the day before or two days before – from BLTs or waffles or something) and just toss it in once the hamburger is browned to warm it up. I also add extra cheese that I stir in with the soup and BBQ sauce to make it extra cheesy.
Also, I’ve done this where I’ve already had the bacon AND the hamburger cooked (done it the day before, or pulled it out of the freezer) and then I just mix it all up and toss it in the oven at 350 for however long it takes – more like a casserole than a Hamburger Helper.

Personal Notes:
I found this recipe in a Taste of Home or Quick Cooking magazine in the early 2000s. As stated above the BBQ sauce was not part of the original recipe, it was a garnish. I added it one time and that totally changed the recipe from good to delicious.
