5 lbs pork ribs
1 medium onion
1½ cups white sugar
¾ cups cider vinegar
½ cups soya sauce
¼ cup ketchup
1 Tbsp Curry powder
½ tsp ground ginger
½ tsp garlic powder
1 cup water
Hot sauce to taste
¼ cup corn starch
½ cup cold water

Directions:

Cut onion in quarters and add to spareribs. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add minced garlic and cover all with water. Heat to boiling and bring down to a simmer for 50 minutes. Remove ribs and place on cookie sheet or baking pan.
Make sauce using all ingredients except cornstarch and ½ cup cold water. Bring to a boil. In a cup add cornstarch and water and add the cornstarch slurry to sauce to thicken.
Place spare ribs under broiler for 10 minutes to brown. Watch they don’t burn. Stir a few times. Add sauce and broil for another 10 minutes to glaze and stir frequently.
