3 to 4 tbsp. salad or cooking oil
¾ cup onion, chopped fine
1 cup catsup
¼ cup vinegar
2 tbsp. Worchestershire Sauce
2 to 3 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. pepper
2 tsp. chili powder
½ tsp. paprika
1 cup water
4 pounds spareribs cut into 2 or 3 rib portions

Directions:
Start by making the sauce. Brown the chopped onion in the oil. Add catsup, vinegar, Worchestershire Sauce, sugar, seasonings and water. Simmer slowly 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, put spareribs in a shallow roasting pan and bake in hot oven, 450º for 15 minutes or until they are browning nicely. Reduce heat to 350º and pour sauce over ribs and continue cooking for 1 ½ to 2 hours. Baste often with sauce, towards the last stir the ribs around till each portion is well coated.
