12 pork spare ribs
2 cloves garlic
4 TBSP dark brown sugar
4 TBSP light soy sauce
4 TBSP tomato paste
2 TBSP maple syrup or honey
1 tsp prepared mustard
black pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Crush the garlic. Put it in a bowl with the sugar, soy sauce, tomato paste, maple syrup, mustard, and pepper. Whisk together well.

Lay the ribs in a shallow dish. Pour the sauce over the ribs, then let them marinate for a least 20 minutes.

Heat the broiler or barbecue until hot. Grill the ribs for about 15 minutes on each side. Brush with sauce, if needed.

Heat any sauce that is left over in a saucepan; let it simmer and serve it with the barbecued spare ribs.

Delaney found this recipe in a cookbook from her school's library. After making it for her daddy on Father's Day, it become a family favorite.

We double the amount for the sauce. Instead of the broiler or grill, we put the ribs in the slow cooker on low for 8-10 hours. They are falling off the bone and ready to eat when you are!
