1/2 C reduced sodium soy sauce
1/2 C beef broth
1/4 C brown sugar, packed
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 T freshly grated ginger
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes, optional
5 lb bone-in beef short ribs
2 T cornstarch
2 T chopped fresh parsley leaves
1 tsp sesame seeds

In a large bowl whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil and red pepper flakes, if using.

Place short ribs in crock pot and stir in soy sauce mixture until well combined.

Cover and cook on low heat for 7-8 hours or high heat for 3-4 hours.

In a small bowl whisk together cornstarch and 1/4 C water. Stir mixture into the crock pot. Cover and cook on high heat for 30 more minutes or until sauce has thickened.

Serve immediately. Garnish with parsley and sesame seeds.

We tried with regular soy sauce and it was a bit salty so low sodium is better. We also have eaten with out thickening and it was also delicious.
