6 lb beef short ribs, english cut, trim fat, leave bones
salt & pepper
1T five-spice powder
1/2 cup each of hoisin sauce & ketchup
1T Asian fish sauce
2T rice vinegar
2T soy sauce
1T honey
1 small yellow onion finely chopped
1T peeled minced ginger
6 cloves smashed garlic

Pre heat broiler, season ribs with salt, pepper and five spice powder. Broil ribs 8-10 minutes on each side.
Put remaining ingredients in slow cooker and mix with ribs to coat. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.
