1 meaty ham bone
water to cover
1 red potato per person
1 onion per person
turnip
1 carrot per person

Directions:
Directions:
Place ham bone in a large pot and cover with water. Simmer for about 2-3 hours adding water as needed. During last hour add 1 potatoes and 1 onion per person. (Red potatoes are great). If you like cut up turnip; add those with potatoes and onions. During last 1/2 hour add one carrot per person. For hearty appetites add extra vegetables. The ham seasons everything. To serve remove everything to large platter. Serve with a mustard sauce. Save and use the pot liquor to make your favorite soup.
