1 cup sugar,
1 cup light molasses,
1 cup lard.
2 unbeaten eggs,
2 tsp. soda,
8 tbsp. boiling water,
1 tsp. cinnamon,
2 tsp ginger,
1 tsp. salt,
2 tsp. baking powder,
5 cups flour

cream together sugar, molasses and lard, add eggs and stir well.,
Stir soda into the boiling water and add to mixture.
add spices and mix.
Sift flour and baking powder together and stir into mixture.
let stand at least a half day or overnight in a cool place.
Roll dough thin on floured board.
cut out cookies, sprinkle with sugar
bake at 350 for ???
