3 c flour
2 1/1 tsp baking powder
1/2 c sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3/4 c butter soft
1 c buttermilk
3/4 c dried fruit currants, raisins, chopped apricots etc.

Directions:
Directions:
Using a fork mix first 6 ingredients together in medium sized bowl until it resembles fine bread crumbs. Add buttermilk and fruit. Stir enough to form a moist ball. Do not over mix. Turn on to a floured board, roll until about 1/2 to 3/4 inch and cut out in to desired shapes. Circles or triangles. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until bottoms are just golden brown.

For cheese scones add 1 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese and 1/2 c shredded parmasean cheese with dry ingredients.

These are delicous and easy to make. Do not over work dough or your scones will be tough and dense. The less you work the dough, the lighter and fluffier the scone will be. Serve with lemon curd and devonshire cream and a nice cup of Earl Grey tea. Yummy!!!
