Sweet and Sour Cabbage Recipe

1/2 small cabbage, chopped
1/2 t. salt
2 slices bacon, chopped
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1/2 c. stewed tomatoes
4 oz. canned butter beans (opt.)
1 1/2 T. flour
2-1/2 t. brown sugar
2-1/2 t. vinegar
dash of: black pepper, garlic powder, and dry mustard

1. Boil cabbage and salt in medium pan filled halfway with water for 10-15 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
2. Sauté bacon and onion in a separate pan while cabbage is boiling.
3. Drain juice from tomatoes and beans.
4. Mix juice with flour in a small bowl.
5. Pour juice and flour mixture into onion and bacon mixture. Stir well
6. Drain water from cabbage and add flour, onion, bacon and juice mixture and vegetables.
7. Carefully stir and fold to mix thoroughly
8. Add sugar and remaining seasonings.
9. Cover and cook slowly for one hour
