2 cups cooked pinto beans (with liquid)
1/4 cup shortening
salt & pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Drain the beans, reserving the liquid.
Heat the shortening on medium-high heat in a large skillet.
When the shortening is hot, but not smoking, slowly add the beans with just enough liquid to just cover Allow the beans to boil for approximately 5 minutes, without stirring.
Begin to mash them with a stiff spatula or spoon until the desired consistency is achieved.
Add salt and pepper. (add liquid as desired)
