1/2 lb. butter 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 1/2 cups flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Filling:
1 cup dates 1 cup boiling water
1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. vanilla.

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together the filling and let it come to a boil. Meanwhile, mix the dry ingredients together and put 1/2 of the dry mixture in 13x9 pan.After the mixture has boiled until it is spreadable, spread over dry ingredients. Cover with other 1/2 of dry ingredients and bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
