Five slices enriched bread
4 cups diced apples
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
Half cup brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel

Directions:
Directions:
Pool bread into bite size pieces. There should be 4 cups. Spread on shallow pan, toast lightly in hot oven for hundred degrees. Arrange alternate layers of crumbs and apples in 1 1/2 quart casserole, drizzling some of the butter and lemon juice over the crumbs and sprinkling the sugar mixed with the cinnamon and lemon peel over the apples. Last layer should be crumbs. Cover and bake in 375° oven for one hour. Uncover for last five minutes of baking.
Serve with cream.
