2 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
Half teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons shortening
One beaten egg
2/3 cup milk
2 cups sliced apples
2 tablespoons butter softened
Quarter cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar into mixing bowl. Add shortening and cutting with pastry cutter or two knives until mixture looks like coarse meal. Combine egg and milk and stirring the flour mixture with fork. Spread into greased pan 8 x 8 x 2“ or a 9 inch deep layer pan. Arrange your sliced apples in rows and press into top of Dough, spread with butter. Mix sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over apples. Bake in a hot oven 400° for 35 to 40 minutes
