1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 t. salt
1 egg
1 t. almond extract or vanilla extract (I always use the almond)
colored sugars of your choice

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 400º. Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed. Stir in flour, salt, egg, and almond extract. Mix until well combined.

Place dough in a cookie press with desired shape disc. Extract cookies onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Decorate with colored sugars.

Bake 5-8 minutes or until set but not brown. Let cookies cool about 2 minutes and then remove them to a platter or storage container. Do not cover until cookies are completely cooled.
