"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

Personal Notes:
A friend gave me a package of Guittard Extra Dark Chocolate Chips, saying they were too strong for her. Well, surely not for me! Then last night I wanted to bake some cookies to take to some people who had helped me so I just pulled out the bag, thinking I would make some standard chocolate chip cookies. I began to follow the recipe on the package and immediately found it was definitely not the standard recipe. As I was already started I continued and I am really glad I did! These were (definitely past tense!) really good - very different from usual chocolate chip cookies. I know following the directions on a package isn't very creative but I'll sacrifice taste for originality any time.
