1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
240 gm (2 cups) flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground nutmeg
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts

Cover raisins with boiling water.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Cream together butter and shortening. Add sugars and beat until creamy and light colored. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Blend dry ingredients in mixer until barely mixed.
Drain raisins. Blend oats, raisins and nuts into mixer.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2" apart onto parchment paper.
Bake 9 - 12 minutes. Cool on racks.
