1 cup fresh strawberries (washed and crushed)
1 cup water
3/4 cup white sugar
3 tbsp. cornstarch
A few drops red food colouring
1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, washed and left whole or halved if large

Directions:
Directions:
Cook crushed berries and 1 cup water for about 2 minutes; sieve and put back into pot.
Combine sugar and cornstarch. Stir into berry juice. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Add a few drops food colouring. Place 1/2 of the washed whole or halved strawberries in a baked and cooled 8 inch pastry shell. Pour half the sauce over. Repeat layer of strawberries and then finish with remaining sauce. Chill.
