1 cup hot water
1 cup cold water
⅔ cup shortening
½ cup brown sugar
2 yeast cakes
¼ cup lukewarm water
6 cup stone ground wheat flour
1 tbsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening in hot water. Add sugar, salt, and cold water. Dissolve yeast in ¼ cup lukewarm water. Sift flour and add yeast mixture and other liquid. Knead for 10 minutes. Put away for 3 hours. Put into loaves and let raise 45 minutes. Bake 1 hour 15 minutes 325º. For a variation: Knead ½ cup raisins, ½ cup nuts and ½ cup chopped dates.
