2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups oil (Crisco Oil works best)
3 eggs
3 cups flour
1 cup chopped nuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 cups peeled diced apples
1 cup shredded coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to #350º

Blend sugar, oil and eggs, mix well.
Add flour, baking soda and salt together then add to first mixture.
Add vanilla extract.
Mix apples, nuts and shredded coconut and add to batter.
Batter will be thick.

Cook in tube pan for about 1 hour 20 minutes.

This recipe was given to me by my brother, John Zona. John was a cook in the Navy and this is one of his recipes.

Of course, we had to revise it so that it didn't feed an army.
