2 c. sugar
1 c. lard
1 c. molasses
½ c. water
2 eggs
½ tbsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. baking soda
½ tsp. vanilla
6½ c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and lard and cinnamon. Beat well. Add molasses and water to beaten eggs. Add to the creamed mixture. Add dry ingredients. Roll out cookies and cut in circles. Brush tops with a beaten egg. Bake @ 375º for 12-13 minutes

When we were dividing up Grandma's things, Levi pointed to a glass dish and told us that he remembered Grandma (Jemima) Klopfenstein serving her molasses cookies on that plate.
