1/2 lb butter
5 eggs
1 3/4 cup sugar
2c (plus 2 T) of sifted cake flour
1 1/2 t vanilla

Have all ingredients at room temperature. Preheat oven to 325º
Grease and thoroughly flour loaf pan

Cream butter thoroughly, Add sugar and beat till light and fluffy

Add eggs, one at a time, beating between each addition

Add flour slowly on low speed then beat and beat and beat until batter is soft, satiny and smooth

Bake at 325º for 60 to 70 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

Note, if adding chopped walnuts (1 cup) flour them first so they don't sink to the bottom of the pan.
