1 cup butter
1/2 cup milk
2 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp granulated sugar
2 pk active dry yeast
1/4 cup very warm water
3 eggs separated
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup cut up raisins

Day before:
1. Heat butter with milk till butter is melted.
2. In medium bowl mix flour and salt with 2 tbsp. sugar.
3. In small bowl place warm water with 2 tbsp sugar. Sprinkle on yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes till slightly frothy.
4. Stir egg yolks into milk mixture. Add yeast water.
5. Stir liquid into flour.
6. Beat until a well blended dough.
Cover and refrigerate overnight, along with reserved egg whites.

Early next day:
1. Start heating oven to 350F
2. Beat egg whites to a thick, fluffy meringue while
adding 1 cup sugar gradually.
3. Grease a 10 inch tube pan.
4. Blend cinnamon, 3 tbs sugar, walnuts and raisins.
5.Divide refrigerated dough in half. On a lightly floured bowl,( or silicone mat) roll out dough into a rectangle. Spread half of meringue on rectangle. Sprinkle half of the nut mixture.
Starting at long end, roll dough in a jelly roll fashion. Lift into pan with ends overlapping.
6. Repeat step 5 with remainding ingredients. This time have overlap on opposite side from first round.
7. Bake ring until golden brown.- about one hour. Cool cake in pan 20 minutes, remove from pan and cool away from drafts on rack.
