2 c buttermilk
1/2 tsp soda
1/4 c butter
salt to taste
1 tsp fennel seeds
1 T caraway seeds
2/3 c molasses
1/3 c wate
1 pkg active dry yeast
3 c all-purpose flour, sifted
3 c rye flour, sifted
1/4 c melted butter
1 T caraway seeds

Directions:
Combine the buttermilk and soda. Heat the next 6 ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then immediately remove from heat and allow to cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in this lukewarm mixture. Pour buttermilk into the yeast mixture and gradually add flour into this, mixing throughly all the time. Place on a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Put dough in a greased bowl and allow to rise until doubled. Place in a warm area for about 2 hours. Punch down, knead again and separate into two balls.

Place on a greased cookie sheet, brush with melted butter, sprinkle with caraway seeds and allow to rise again until doubled.

Preheat oven to 350º and bake for 45 minutes, or until crust is lightly browned and crisp. Drizzle with butter and remove from oven
