2 c self-rising flour
2 T cinnamon
6 T sugar
1 1/2 sticks (3/4 c) unsalted butter
2 eggs
1/4 c strong brewed coffee
1/4 c milk
1/2 c golden raisins or chopped dried apricot
1/2 c pecans, chopped
extra milk and sugar for topping

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400º. Grease a baking sheet.

Stir together flour, cinnamon and sugar. Cut butter into tablespoon pieces and blend into dry ingredients with a pastry blender.

Mix together eggs, coffee, and milk. Stir into dry ingredients to form a soft ball. Stir in fruit and nuts.

Turn dough out onto a floured surface, and gently pat into a circle, 1/2 inch thick. With a floured knife cut circle into wedges 6-8 per circle. Place scones on greased baking sheets. Brush tops with milk and sprinkle with sugar.

Bake 12-15 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean and golden brown. Serve hot.
