2 cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
2 cups unsweetened applesauce
1 T cinnamon
2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cloves
4 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts
Confectioners' sugar (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and butter together add eggs; beat well. Mix in applesauce, cinnamon, allspice and cloves. Combine flour, baking soda and salt together, add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Fill lightly greased muffin tins 2/3 full and bake at 350º for 15 - 17 minutes. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, if desired. Batter will keep for 6 weeks in refrigerator.
