4 slices bacon, cut in bite-sized pieces
1 large onion, diced
1 red pepper, diced
3 ribs celery, diced
2 T flour
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups carrots, peeled and diced
3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
pinch of saffron
1 T fresh marjoram or other fresh herbs
16 oz. bag frozen corn
1/2 cup cream
2 cups chicken, cooked and diced
1 bunch green onions, chopped (optional)

Cook bacon over medium heat until crisp and browned. Remove to a paper towel and save for garnishing the chowder. Add onion, pepper, and celery to the bacon drippings. Sauté until vegetables are soft. Add flour and stir for one minute. Add chicken broth, carrots, and potatoes. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring frequently. Simmer about 7 -10 minutes or until potatoes and carrots are tender. Add corn, cream, saffron, and marjoram. Simmer for 4 minutes. Add chicken and green onions. Serve with a garnish of reserved bacon pieces.

I put everything in crockpot and cook on low 6-8 hours.
