Ingredients:
Ingredients:
5-6 medium apples--peeled or unpeeled--your choice. Use a firm apple.
1 Tbsp butter
3/4 cup red hots, but actually to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Wash, core and slice apples--peel if you want.
Melt butter in the bottom of a non-stick skillet with a tight-fitting lid.
Put apple slices on top of butter and saute them until they soften a bit.
Add the red hots, put on the lid and let them cook on mediumfor a bit, until the red hots begin to melt.

Stir until all the red hots are incorporated and the apples are clear (they'll be red, but they won't be opaque any longer).

The tight lid and the juice from the apples should be enough to keep the apples moist; if not, add a bit of water. They should have a caramelized texture.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Mom always liked Jonathan apples and she didn't peel hers. I used a bag of frozen apple slices I got from the orchard; they were Honey Crisps and peeled, and they were really good.

These are perfect with a pork roast, or as a Thanksgiving side dish.
